My Campsite, Big Trout Lake
I have never had a campsite that compared to the beauty of this one. It is surrounded on three sides by water, has it’s own private sandy beach, and most endearing, it is in the heart of Algonquin Park. Very peaceful! Someone at one time had carved a checker board into a large piece of wood and even including checkers, stained with what looks like food colouring. Made me wish that I had someone to share a game with, but I wouldn’t haven’t wanted to give up the solitude of that little place in heaven.
I actually stood in the water to paint this scene. I debated included my tent, but in the end decided that it had shared this journey with me and deserved to be part of the painting. The studio painting is very dear to me because of these strong precious memories. It has been hanging in my living room for over a year now. I almost decided to leave it hanging right where it was., but as with the tent, I decided it needed to be part of the exhibit.
