Brigham Falls
This painting was completed on the last trip of the project, at a place close to where the walls of Barren Canyon climbed towards the sky. I had carried my canoe across one of the portages while listening to the roar of the water. I knew before I even saw this spot that I wouldn’t be able to stop myself from returning there, paint brush in hand. On my return journey, I did just that. How exciting to be standing on the rocks with my easel set up in the water, which rushed quickly around me while I tried to capture the essence of this special place. I changed very little in this scene while transferring it from the field study to the studio painting.
Video shot as I debate painting this scene and in what lighting. I decided this time of day.
