I was asked to be part of the McMichael Gallery fundraising event called Moonlight Gala. They had Tom Thomson package that included one of my paintings as well as a tour of Tom Thomson sites around Canoe Lake. While at the gala, I was fortunate enough to be let into what is commonly called the Shack. It is where Tom Thomson lived his last few winters. He painted Jack Pine and West Wind here. In fact, West Wind was left on his easel. Unfinished? We don’t know. The Shack was moved to the McMichael Gallery from it’s originsl home at the Studio Buidling in the Rosedale area of Toronto, The art studio built for artists by artist Lauren Harris and collector Dr. McCallum.
