PBS TV's Journeys of an Artist

One of my greatest adventures was hosting a nationally released PBS television program released in 2005. I was fortunate enough to travel with world famous artists to the places they traveled to gather reference for their incredible paintings. After co-hosting and then hosting a live 4 day TV auction in Watertown New York, I was asked to host an art program. I developed the concept of a show about  art and travel. The concept was approved and this show is the result! I learned so much about TV produciton, voice overs, and editing. We won a national cinematography award as well.

Travel to the East African country of Tanzania with internationally renowned wildlife artist Guy Coheleach as they head out on a wildlife safari in the two episode adventure.

Join Gene and famed watercolour artist Steve Hanks as the visit the New Orleans, Louisiana. Experience the culture and history of this famous destination and what brings Steve back here time and again.

Gene take a step back in time with civil war artist Bradley Schmell as they become part of the 47th infantry of Virginia in the battle of Cedar Creek in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. They experience a civil war re-enactment first hand.

Go shark diving with underwater artist Randall Scott as they travel to the Bahamas to experience the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean.

Landscape painter Dwayne Harty takes Gene on a whirlwind trip to Ontario’s Georgian Bay, Yellowstone National Park and Jackson Hole Wyoming.

Gene is joined my wildlife artist John Banovich on a second African Safari deep into the Serengeti in another two episode adventure.

Sporting artist Rod Crossman takes Gene to the rivers of the Adirondack in Upper New York state to fly fish and explore the wonderful waterways of this region.

Gene explores the spice island of Zanzibar and visits various artists of the island painting in their traditional methods.
